In 1998-99 Steve Baggett took the Third team to Runners-up spot in Division One and to both the TT Trophy Final and the final of the Challenge Cup.

This game was a bad-tempered affair against a rough Railway Tavern side who had kicked their way to runners-up spot in Division 2 (they had been robbed of the title by an injury-time equaliser by Steve Baggett in their match vs. the Fourth XI at Pirton on 15th April). In the end poor officials offered little protection to the Thirds, who went down 2-3.
