Phil Thompson (left) pictured here with Archie Conway in September 2007 before a County Cup tie in Hemel Hempstead is undoubtedly the greatest goalscorer to wear a Lea Sports shirt.

By the end of the 2011-12 Season he had scored 677 goals in 665 games since his debut in November 1982. In the 2008-09 Season Phil was top scorer for the Reserves as they won the Division 4 title, as well as being top scorer in the North Home Counties League, with 28 league goals. The League awarded him the Ron Cox Memorial Cup in recognition of his feats. In 2010-11 he was top scorer in Division 3.

Phil won the Club's Golden Boot award as overall top scorer in 2007-08, but was pipped on the final day of the 2008-09 Season by James Hirst of the Under 12s, who scored a hat-trick to take the trophy by two goals.
